STEPHAN GOLDSTEIN

Stephan has had a life-long passion for black-and-white photography and continues to work with the traditional analog materials he grew up with: medium- and large-format black-and-white film and individually hand-processed optically printed silver-gelatin prints made in the darkroom. These tools and methods of craft enforce a deliberate working style that supports a more careful and contemplative exploration of the world, allowing him to focus on what things look like rather than what they are. Stephan photographs what interests him, but has always been drawn to what many would consider classical photographic motifs; landscapes large and small, the water/land/sky interface, abstract natural forms, and man-made arrangements and objects all catch his eye. Photo credit to Sid Caesar.
